What kind of learning environment does NexTech offer?

NexTech is a blended learning environment.  We pride ourself in offering the best of in-class experiences like Traditional settings, but also, the flexibility and personalization aspects typically seen in alternative and virtual settings.

Does NexTech have sports, drama, or other after-school activities?

At this time NexTech does not run any sports or drama programs.  However, we are able to alter our offerings based on the needs and wants of our student population.

How big is NexTech High School?

NexTech has around 15 staff members and teachers supporting students in various capacities. There are approximately 150 students between the morning and afternoon sessions at this time, with a maximum of 275 students for total enrollment.

What sort of academic year does NexTech have?

NexTech runs a trimester schedule and then offers a shorter summer school session immediately following the school year.

Does NexTech High School have a tuition cost?

NexTech is a tuition-free, independent public charter school that is non-profit.

Does NexTech partner with KCTC or GRCC for dual enrollment?

Yes!  We strongly encourage our students to dual enroll in either KCTC or GRCC for the potential to earn college credits, certificates, or hands-on practice in the trades.

What are the school’s hours?

AM session runs 8-12 Tuesday through Friday. PM session runs 11-3 Monday through Thursday.

How many class periods will a student have in their daily AM or PM session?

Students will have 5 possible class periods each day. When a student doesn’t have a class assigned during any period they study in a collaborative workspace to complete assignments from their various courses.  In general, classes run on an alternating A-B-A-B pattern similar to college classes.

My student is sick, or I need to excuse them for an appointment, what should I do?

Please call in to the absent line within 24 hours to make this an excused absence.

What is the cell phone policy at school?

Phones are not to be used in class.  If excessive phone use in the collaborative area is a distraction or seems to be limiting a student’s success, we will help the student place their phone in a personal locker that they can retrieve before they leave.

Does school provide computers or personal devices?

Each student is loaned a Chromebook computer for the school year.  Please note students are responsible for the care and safety of their assigned computer.  A student is free to use their own private device.
