Math Teacher in Grand Rapids

My name is Al Hafeman.  I teach Math which includes Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus.  This Fall I will be starting my 3rd year at NexTech High. My experience at the high school level includes 25 years in Wisconsin and one year in Florida.  My education includes earning a BBA in Marketing and my BS in Math and German Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I earned my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  In addition to teaching at NexTech High School, I do work with Math and German students on the side.

After many years of family life in Wisconsin and one year in Florida, my wife and I are excited to be back in West Michigan, though, to be near family.  Our two children are enjoying being close to their cousins once again!  We enjoy doing things outdoors like biking, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and camping.  Also, when I get a chance, I enjoy reading or working on my German!  We enjoy traveling, when possible - favorite places, besides the beaches and dunes of West Michigan, are Disney World, the Gulf Coast, and visiting cousins in Southern California!

I am excited to be a part of the NexTech staff and be a part of the wonderful opportunities that are offered to students here at NexTech High School.  I look forward to working with students in their Math classes to help them navigate through their class and make connections that will help them gain an appreciation for Math!
