My name is Pat Langworthy and I teach Special Education at NexTech High School.  This is my 3rd. year at NexTech and my 23rd year of teaching overall. Before teaching at NexTech, I taught at GRPS at Lincoln Campus with children with autism.  Before that, I was a supervisor of Special Education programs for Mecosta Osceola ISD and at Morley Stanwood Schools.  I graduated from Calvin College with a special education endorsement. I earned my Master’s Degree in General Education with an emphasis on special education from Grand Valley State University.  In addition to teaching at NexTech, I am a tutor for SLD Read using the Orton-Gillingham curriculum.

Before going into teaching I had a career in Medical Technology and worked at a small hospital in Big Rapids, with my Bachelor’s Degree from Ferris State University.

I enjoy being outdoors in my spare time, especially walking and kayaking.  My favorite walking area is Rails to Trails north of Grand Rapids, and the Muskegon River for kayaking. I am also an avid reader of most genres and have only ever found two movies that I prefer to the book version.  I live in Howard City with my husband Elwood.  We have 4 children together, 3 boys and one girl.  We enjoy any water sport, blueberry picking, hunting, and gardening with them.
